Čen Ši Huangas yra vyriausias lėlių teatro meistro Li Tian Lu sūnus. 2009 m. būdamas 79 metų meistras Čen atsiskiria nuo šeimos ir įkuria savo trupę, kuri greitai sulaukia pasaulinio pripažinimo. Tačiau nepaisant to, šio tradicinio meno populiarumas sparčiai mažėja ir Čen nepavyksta rasti mokinio, kuriam galėtų perduoti savo patirtį ir žinias.

For forty years A-Rui has been running a barbershop, a small place where she has seen happiness and sorrow, ebb and flow. Faced with all the troubles in her life, A-Rui fully commits to her work and defeat is never an option for her, but her children never appreciate it and treat her profession with disdain. One day, A-Rui receives a phone call from the family of an old regular client who moved far away a long time ago. A-Rui decides to hang up the “Day Off” sign and closes her shop for one day. She drives her beat-up old car and embarks on a long journey to do something others think is not worthwhile.

Manawei, a Yami(Tao) boy, lives on Orchid Island with his grandmother while his father is away from home working. He hopes that his father will bring him a new pair of shoes, but his father’s brief return brings only disappointment. The National Indigenous Dance Competition approaches and a young teacher from Taiwan volunteers to train the school’s dance team with the hope of being transferred back home. While for Manawei, it is a chance to see his father again.
